Summary
A Meaning Model combined with governed authoring provides the enterprise’s first operational layer of meaning, but it is not a PIA. It cannot enforce meaning, boundaries, or Conditions of Success. It cannot guarantee determinism or prevent drift.
Gen 1 PIAs make meaning operational.
Gen 1.5 PIAs make meaning machine‑readable and system‑enforceable.
Gen 2 PIAs provide deterministic governance and automated decision enforcement.
Gen 3 PIAs deliver governed autonomy across the enterprise.
Authored meaning is immediately valuable for governing humans, vendors, and AI today, but it becomes exponentially more powerful as enterprises progress through the PIA generations. Only PIAs enforce meaning deterministically and autonomously.
