Interaction Layer

Where governed Business Intent becomes accessible through people, systems, applications, APIs, intelligence services, and future agents.

The Interaction Layer is Layer 4 of the Governed Process Intelligence Architecture. It is where governed Business Intent becomes accessible and usable across the enterprise. This layer enables interaction through natural language, applications, APIs, Business Intent Consumption Interfaces (BICIs), intelligence services, and future Process Intelligence capabilities while helping ensure that every interaction remains aligned to governed Business Intent.

This layer makes the architecture accessible. It is how people, systems, applications, agents, and intelligence services interact with governed Business Intent in real time.

The Interaction Layer serves as the governed access point between human interaction, system interaction, and governed intelligence.

Purpose of the Natural Language Interface Layer

This layer exists to provide governed interaction across multiple forms of engagement while preserving alignment to Business Intent.

It provides:

  • governed interaction

  • governed synthesis

  • governed retrieval

  • Business Intent-aware interpretation

  • alignment-preserving access

  • application integration

  • API integration

  • BICI integration

  • future agent interaction

The purpose of this layer is not simply to enable communication. Its purpose is to help ensure that every interaction remains aligned to the Business Intent, governance requirements, Conditions of Success, Decision Boundaries, Accountability Expectations, and Evidence Requirements established in the upper layers of the architecture.

What This Layer Produces

The Interaction Layer produces the governed interaction outputs consumed by people, systems, applications, and future Process Intelligence capabilities.

These outputs include:

  • governed responses

  • Business Intent-aware reasoning

  • context-aware synthesis

  • scenario-aware interpretations

  • governed retrieval

  • Business Intent-aware recommendations

  • structured interaction outputs

  • governed access to Business Intent assets

It serves as the connection point between governed Business Intent and the people, applications, systems, and intelligence services that need to consume it.

The architecture can support complex questions, scenarios, evaluations, and recommendations while maintaining alignment to governed Business Intent.

This enables users and systems to access the Business Intent most relevant to the situation at hand.

The Interaction Layer interprets requests, questions, situations, events, and interactions through the lens of governed Business Intent.

Within the Interaction Layer they become a governed source of Business Intent guidance that can be surfaced when people or systems need additional context.

How This Layer Interacts with the Architecture

The Interaction Layer:

  • consumes governed Business Intent from the Business Intent Kernel

  • applies Business Intent assets, governance requirements, and scenario context

  • provides governed access to Vendor Intelligence

  • supplies governed interaction outputs to the Business Intent Operationalization Layer

  • supports Process Intelligence Runtime activities

  • surfaces Leadership Signals (Micro-Videos), BIOs, Conditions of Success, Decision Boundaries, Accountability Expectations, and Evidence Requirements when appropriate

This layer does not establish Business Intent. It makes Business Intent accessible, understandable, and usable.

The Governance Layer supervises this layer. The Business Intent Kernel supplies the governed assets it consumes. The Business Intent Operationalization Layer transforms those assets into executable structures. The Process Intelligence Runtime Layer applies those structures during execution.

The Interaction Layer is therefore the governed gateway through which Business Intent becomes consumable across people, systems, applications, and future Process Intelligence ecosystems.
