What The CFO-TA Platform Is

The CFO-TA is the Executive Sponsor Platform. It is a Business-Side platform purpose-built for Executive Sponsors responsible for major transformation investments. The platform helps Executive Sponsors govern their three Sponsor-owned responsibilities: Business Intent, Scope Intent, and Transformation Approach Intent. Together these form Sponsor Intent, the Executive Sponsor-owned expression of purpose and foundation of the Transformation Definition.

The platform combines The CFO-TA and Sponsor Intent Lifecycle Management Studio (SILMS) into a unified Intent Governance and Execution Governance capability operating within the client’s environment. Through structured governance assets, AI-enabled guidance, validation capabilities, monitoring, evidence management, and governance workflows, the platform helps Sponsors maintain alignment between approved Sponsor Intent and the decisions, activities, and outcomes that follow.

The platform helps organizations:

  • Establish Sponsor Intent

  • Govern Sponsor Intent

  • Preserve Sponsor authority and oversight

  • Define governance boundaries

  • Maintain accountability

  • Define evidence requirements

  • Support validation activities

  • Monitor alignment

  • Maintain durable Sponsor Intent Assets and governance records

The objective is to operationalize Sponsor Intent throughout the Enterprise Transformation Program lifecycle and ongoing operations so that purpose remains visible, governable, and connected to outcomes.

One Platform. Twelve Integrated Value Opportunities.

The CFO-TA gives Executive Sponsors an ongoing capability for strengthening definition, preserving alignment, validating outcomes, and maintaining governance continuity. Clients benefit from all twelve CFO-TA Value Opportunities and focus the Platform where current needs and decisions create the greatest value.

What The CFO-TA Platform License Includes

A standard platform subscription includes access to The CFO-TA Platform, a dedicated SILMS instance, one or more operating domains depending on the licensed scope, platform updates, customer support, and governance support aligned to the selected subscription. The subscription is designed around the Sponsor and the Sponsor’s core leadership team rather than broad enterprise deployment.

Participation is focused on the individuals responsible for governing Sponsor Intent, accountability, validation, evidence review, and authorization decisions. As additional governance requirements emerge, organizations can expand platform scope, participant access, and operating domain coverage in a controlled and predictable manner.

Depending on the licensed scope, capabilities may include:

  • Business Intent Design support

  • Sponsor Intent governance

  • Sponsor Intent Assets (SIAs)

  • Governance boundary management

  • Accountability management

  • Evidence management

  • Meaning-Aligned Requirements (MAR)

  • Sponsor Intent Validation Plans (SIVPs)

  • Sponsor Intent Test Cases (SITCs)

  • Sponsor Intent Testing (SIT)

  • Sponsor authorization support

  • Governance records and traceability

  • Business Intent Governance AI support

As governance requirements evolve, organizations can expand operating domain coverage, participant access, and subscription scope in a controlled and predictable manner.

Governance Participation

The CFO-TA Platform is designed for the Sponsor and the Sponsor’s core leadership team. Participation is focused on the individuals who directly influence Sponsor Intent, governance decisions, validation activities, accountability requirements, evidence review, and authorization decisions. The platform creates a shared Sponsor Intent Lifecycle Management environment for the group responsible for governing outcomes.

Typical participants may include:

  • Executive Sponsor

  • Business-Side leaders

  • Transformation leaders

  • Program leaders

  • Governance stewards

  • Process owners

  • Business architects

  • Data and analytics leaders

  • AI governance leaders

  • PMO leadership

  • Other stakeholders with direct governance responsibilities

Organizations can add additional governance participants as governance needs expand.

Licensing Scope

Licensing is aligned to governance requirements rather than broad enterprise deployment. The platform is designed around what must be governed, what Sponsor Intent must be preserved, what operating domains are in scope, and what governance capability is required to support the organization.

Licensing considerations typically include:

  • Number of operating domains

  • Governance complexity

  • Breadth of stakeholder participation

  • Number of systems affected

  • Lifecycle phases in scope

  • Subscription duration

The appropriate subscription structure is determined during engagement design and aligned to the organization’s governance objectives.

Platform Prerequisites

The CFO-TA Platform operates through a combination of client-managed Microsoft technologies and licensed platform capabilities. Organizations typically require a Microsoft environment capable of supporting SILMS deployment, designated Sponsor participation, appropriate Business-Side participation, and clear governance ownership.

Typical prerequisites include:

  • Microsoft 365

  • SharePoint environment suitable for SILMS deployment

  • Microsoft Copilot licensing appropriate for participating users

  • Designated Sponsor participation

  • Designated Business-Side participation

  • Appropriate governance ownership

SILMS is deployed within the client’s SharePoint environment and supports the creation and management of Sponsor Intent Assets, governance records, evidence, and related governance content under client control. The broader platform combines these client-controlled assets with licensed platform capabilities, support services, governance functionality, and ongoing platform updates.

Deployment Model

The CFO-TA Platform operates through a combination of client-managed Microsoft technologies and licensed platform capabilities provided by Alentra. SILMS is deployed within the client’s SharePoint environment and utilizes the client’s Microsoft permissions framework, retention policies, security controls, governance settings, and information management practices.

The client retains control of:

  • Microsoft tenant administration

  • Identity and access management

  • SharePoint administration

  • Data classification and retention policies

  • Audit logging and security controls

  • Sponsor Intent Assets and governance records

Sponsor Intent Assets, governance records, supporting evidence, and related governance content remain under client control within the client’s environment. This operating model preserves Sponsor ownership while providing access to the continuing capabilities of The CFO-TA Platform.

Commercial Activation Requirements

All platform subscriptions are fixed-fee and prepaid. Payment must be received before platform provisioning, SILMS deployment, onboarding activities, access enablement, or subscription activation can begin. This approach creates clear commercial boundaries, predictable investment levels, and alignment between subscription activation and delivery activities.

Payment is required before:

  • Platform provisioning

  • SILMS deployment

  • User onboarding

  • Access enablement

  • Subscription activation

Subscription Renewal

Organizations may renew, expand, reduce, or modify platform subscriptions at the conclusion of any subscription term. Renewals allow continued use of The CFO-TA Platform, SILMS functionality, support services, governance capabilities, and platform updates without interruption. Many organizations begin with a focused governance scope and expand over time as additional operating domains, stakeholders, and governance requirements emerge.

What Happens if a Subscription Expires

The CFO-TA Platform is licensed through a fixed-term subscription. If a subscription is not renewed, access to The CFO-TA Platform and SILMS functionality concludes at the end of the licensed term. Prior to expiration, the client receives the deliverables included within the licensed scope, including static exports of Sponsor Intent artifacts and current SILMS content extracts.

Prior to expiration, the client receives:

  • A static export of Sponsor Intent artifacts created during the subscription term

  • A current extract of SILMS contents at the time of expiration

  • Any other deliverables expressly included within the licensed scope

Following expiration:

  • Platform access ceases

  • SILMS functionality ceases

  • Platform updates cease

  • Ongoing support ceases

The client retains the exported materials delivered at expiration for internal reference purposes.

Why This Licensing Model Works

The licensing model is designed around Sponsor Intent Lifecycle Management. It allows organizations to establish a durable governance capability focused on the individuals responsible for Sponsor Intent, accountability, evidence, validation, and authorization activities. Rather than scaling based primarily on enterprise-wide deployment, the model aligns investment with governance requirements and the operating scope that must be governed.

Organizations benefit from:

  • Fixed-term subscriptions

  • Predictable budgeting

  • Governance-focused participation

  • Sponsor-controlled governance

  • Flexible renewal options

  • Scalable governance capability

  • Client-controlled information management

  • Ongoing platform evolution and support

The result is a governance capability that can expand, evolve, and adapt as organizational needs change while preserving Sponsor authority and governance continuity.
